This morning, as I was ploughing copious amounts of frozen precipitation (also referred to in a four-letter s--- word, snow), I was thinking about an article that I had read on Fox News about celebrity relationships. I will not delve into the intricacies of the article but the main storyline was that of the constantly evolving and revolving love lives of these people.
Now, I tend to pride myself with a certain amount of knowledge about pop culture and I think it is important to a degree to maintain a healthy knowledge of what is happening out there.
But the thought that came to me was the misplacement of America's affections. We (myself included) can name literally hundreds of talk-show personalities, actors, actresses, news correspondents, singers, business folk and socialites. But how many of the 3000+ troops killed in Iraq can we name?
I just wanted to pass that thought along, not that I think anyone in paticular needs it but because it is important to realize where the real focus of our admiration should be.

That's an excellent point...and similarly it is galling how many people don't know who heads up our different levels of govt...people that hold actual sway over our daily lives and the implications of which have huge impacts on the future of our country and the world. People should know that Condi Rice is the Secretary of State for a lot of different reasons.
On another note, I love how you wrote this thought down. That's my kind of reading.
Thanks for the compliment.
A couple of weeks ago in the Rutland Herald they did a street talk. You may have already seen this but they were asking people what they though about the state of the union address and one lady's response to the question was "....State of the union? what is that...? I am not kidding.
This is the reason our country is going in the direction it is.
